In our arms...

It was a very emotional, happy, sad, anxious, wondrous, thrilling, exciting, ... pretty much any adjective you want to use would apply to yesterday. At 2:30pm Feb. 20th, HannahKate was official in our arms to stay forever. The meeting was short and simple. We received the immigration papers and a few bags of gifts from the foster mom and we gave them a few gifts as well. We have been praying that HannahKate adjusts quickly (hoping for only a few weeks of crying) but we were absolutely blown away how well she adapted. She cried for about 10mins in the initial parting when she saw her foster mom for the last time. It was a very sad moment for everyone to know that her caretaker for the last 7 months was saying goodbye. It was heart wrenching to see HannahKate and her foster mom crying. Luckily she fell asleep shortly after we got in the car and slept all the way home. After going home, it was amazing how much she already seemed to be at ease with us. We had her laughing within a few moments and have had a great time. She even slept through most of the night after fussing for her mom for only about 30 minutes or so! This morning she has been laughing as if she's been a part of our family forever. God is so good in giving her the peace to be with our family. She's a special, one of kind, hand-picked daughter by God, and we can tell already she's perfect for our family. All of our fears have evaporated and we are having a fantastic time with her. I truly can't express in words how blessed we feel right now seeing her laugh and play. She already loves everyone in the family especially Jonathan. She chases after him where ever he's playing. Please pray that he adjusts to having a sister. It's been hard on him with all of the attention going to HannahKate right. He's estatic about having her, but not so happy about her going near his toys and personal space. I'm sure this will get better but for now it's a battle.

Sorry, but the pictures are coming in the next post...

  1. I came home after kids' Aikido class, wondering about how it's going with you and HannahKate. So glad to hear that she is well adjusting already. Make sure you pay close attention to Jonathan's feeling though, until he starts caring for HannahKate without much jealousy. His transition is just as important for him and for HannahKate as hers alone. Otherwise, the emotional hurt can last a very long time. I am sure you will do great, but it's just a comment from your old brother~ ^^

  5. WooHoo friends! It's all good now! Praying for you and the adjustment. Tell Jonathan that Syd just looked at the pics of him drinking out of the two straws and just had herself a good laugh!
